Co-op horror game Shift at Midnight locks its July 22 release date and confirms crossplay details between Xbox and PC Game Pass.

Shift at Midnight is finally set to make its debut after a couple of delays pushed its release back over the past few months. Along with the new launch date, developer Bun Muen also shared several details about crossplay, game modes, and post-launch content. Here’s everything announced ahead of release.

Shift at Midnight Release Date and Post-Launch Details

After two short delays, solo developer Bun Muen has officially announced the final release date for Shift at Midnight. The co-op horror game was originally scheduled to launch on May 28 before being pushed back to June 17. That second date also came and went, with the developer explaining that a little more time was needed to polish the game. According to the latest announcement, Shift at Midnight is now set to release on July 22.

Given how the last couple of months have played out, it’s understandable that some players are still a little skeptical. This announcement feels more complete, though, as it came with several launch-related updates instead of just another release date.

First, crossplay is officially confirmed. However, it will only be available between Xbox and PC Game Pass players for now. While Steam-to-Xbox crossplay is expected to arrive further down the line, no specific plans or timeline were shared.

The game’s available modes also received an update. Players already knew that Shift at Midnight would include both a Story Mode and an Endless Mode, with the latter originally planned for Q4 2026. That has now changed as Endless Mode will be available at launch and will unlock after players complete the Story Mode.

Bun Muen also confirmed that a major content update is planned just a few weeks after release. The update will expand both Story Mode and Endless Mode with additional content, giving players more reasons to return after finishing their first run.

Shift at Midnight is a co-op horror game that mixes gas station management with tense survival. During each randomly generated shift, you’ll restock shelves, accept deliveries, clean the store, and serve customers while carefully checking IDs, reviewing records, and watching for suspicious behavior to identify dangerous doppelgangers hiding among ordinary people. Let one slip through, and they’ll return later as terrifying creatures, forcing you and your team to barricade doors, set traps, and hide to survive the night.

With a story and endless mode, proximity voice chat, character customization, and multiplayer support, every shift offers a different challenge. The game will officially launch July 22, 2026 for PC via Steam, Xbox Series XS, and Game Pass.
