GungHo Online Entertainment has officially announced the next major entry in its long-running action Ninjala series during the June 2026 Nintendo Direct. Ninjala 2: The Uncharted Planet represents a significant directional shift for the studio, moving away from the arena-based combat of the original title.

The game is confirmed for a Spring 2027 release, positioning it as one of the early exclusives for the Nintendo Switch 2.

Ninjala 2: The Uncharted Planet shifts the franchise from competitive PvP to an open-world action experience. Players explore large environments using Ninja-Gum combat mechanics to face bosses, with options for both solo play and four-player cooperative sessions.

This iteration emphasizes environmental interaction, crafting, and quest-driven progression, abandoning the lobby-based structure of the original release.

The core combat retains the high-speed mechanics familiar to fans, but expands the scope to include environmental interaction. Players can now utilize weapon attributes, a new crafting system, and a cooking mechanic to manage resources found throughout the world.

The structure allows for quest-driven gameplay, meaning users can tackle objectives in various sequences. This replaces the lobby-based format of the previous title with a focus on exploration and survival on an alien world.

GungHo Online Entertainment officially announced that Ninjala 2: The Uncharted Planet will launch in Spring 2027. The title serves as a launch-window exclusive for the Nintendo Switch 2. What is the story of the new title?

The game features a two-part narrative structure, with The Uncharted Planet acting as the first installment. The story begins at the WNA Academy, where the protagonist is tricked into breaking a forbidden seal, causing the entire school to be transported to a mysterious alien planet while releasing the dangerous Xenos Army.

Stranded and far from Earth, the students must cooperate to survive, investigate the planet, and uncover the latent power within themselves to find a way home.
