Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition Nintendo Switch 2 Release Delayed Until 2026
FromSoftware has announced that the Elden Ring Tarnished Edition for the Nintendo Switch 2 has been delayed until 2026 to allow the developer time to improve its performance on the console.
The Elden Ring Tarnished Edition, exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2, was originally due to launch in 2025, but developer FromSoftware has pushed back its release to 2026 to improve the game’s performance.
The Tarnished Edition will come with the base Elden Ring game, its Shadow of the Erdree DLC, and all-new armor sets and customization options for the players’ spectral steed, Torrent.
Why Is It Delayed
In an update on X, the official Elden Ring account has told fans that the developers have chosen to move the launch of the Tarnished Edition to 2026 “to allow time for performance adjustments.”
A delay does not come as a complete surprise, as reports from Gamescom by several publishers via Polygon revealed that the Switch 2 port suffered from frame drops and several other technical issues when in handheld mode. This is something FromSoftware wants to fix before the launch.
