Months after the record-breaking launch of Battlefield 6, EA has announced it is laying off staff across its teams at Battlefield Studios, which will impact Criterion, Dice, Ripple Effect, and Motive.

As players dive into the sprawling new maps of Battlefield 6 Season 2 and test their mettle in the high-stakes REDSEC Battle Royale mode, the architects of those very worlds, veterans at DICE and Criterion, are facing a sudden restructuring.

This shift marks a pivotal moment for BF6, a transition from the frantic energy of a blockbuster launch to the lean, calculated reality of a long-term live service.

The EA Shakeup: Studio Layoffs and Development Impact

Despite the record-breaking success, which saw the game sell 7 million copies in its first three days and hit 747,440 concurrent players on Steam, EA is moving forward with staff reductions at its Criterion, DICE, Ripple Effect, and Motive studios.

Speaking to IGN, a spokesperson confirmed EA has “made select changes within our Battlefield organization to better align our teams around what matters most to our community.”

For now, it doesn’t appear that the layoffs will impact the Battlefield 6 roadmap, which includes the upcoming “Nightfall” mode, Hagental Base map, and all-new weapons.
