I’m really looking forward to Redfall. A dynamic, co-op, open world FPS where vampires rage against us. Already, the setting is not so common, there is a certain visual originality. The natural mixes with the supernatural here, and the level design promises to be top notch, thought up by the creators of the very original Talos space station in Prey and Dishonored. So originality, verticality, easter eggs, imagination…? We are promised varied, surprising, creepy environments. Everything we like. And 4 characters can join together in the adventure, a sniper, an engineer and her robot, a telekineticist and a hunter/inventor. Different profiles. We see some bloody executions, a convincing bestiary, the gameplay rather attractive…
Frankly, Redfall could be a very, very good surprise. It makes me salivate. I don’t like to get overly excited, but I pre-ordered it.
Arkane Studios has already proved to be an excellent game developer, and we can expect Redfall to be another immersive and action-packed FPS. Trapped on a vampire-infested island, our heroes will have to show that they are strong enough to survive!
In Redfall, as in other Arkane titles, we can approach the missions in different ways. You can kill enemies or sneak around, it’s up to you! In your disposition, there are not only a variety of weapons, but also robots that can eliminate or distract the targets. Honestly, I’m really looking forward to this game, and I think it will be a blast.
Redfall is an open-world co-op action FPS game developed by Arkane Austin, where players can face a legion of vampires attacking the town of Redfall alone or with up to four friends, each with their own unique abilities. The game also features a deep story campaign and a handcrafted open world.
Redfall is an upcoming fps action adventure by the Austin division of Arkane, thus not the A team famous for the likes of Dishonored, Deathloop and the Prey reboot.
Redfall takes a lot of inspiration from the co-op title of Left 4 Dead, which many has tried to replicate but fall flat in trying to reinvent the formula, or ended up being just alternatives (admittely many were fun, others not). What set this title apart is that it’s not mission/chapter based but instead it offers a whole open world system, with various secondary missions scattered around the world. Not to mention it leans more on the looter shooter genre, where you constantly look for new and better weapons to help you in your exploration.
There’s a lot of content still not entirely known as the dev team has been quite secretive about the title. But so far we know that it’s set in the Island of Redfall, from which the title takes the name from, which has been infested by vampires which has managed to block the sun, the source of their weakness, and cut off the rest of the population. We’ll have a choice of 4 different characters all with their own skills and perks.
One major annoyance that seems to bug people, for a title that do offer offline and singleplayer mode is the constant need for an internet connection, likely linked to the item drop system being server sided. Not to mention the possibility of server congestions at launch or in case there are server issues not being able to access the game. There’s over a month until it’s release, so let’s hope to hear more news about it
Redfall is an open-word FPS that takes place in a town plagued with vampires. From the developers of Dishonored and Prey, this titles bets heavily on the co-op experience where up to 4 players can join a game and choose different characters with unique abilities to face hordes of enemies. We will be able to choose different weapon loadouts and upgrade abilities to better suit our play style or find good synergies with the rest of the squad. The open world aspect of the game is interesting and if made well should bring a nice element of exploration and many secrets to find.
