Developer Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has confirmed that the standalone version of Yakuza 3 Remastered will no longer be available to purchase when Yakuza 3 & Dark Ties launches on February 12, 2026.

Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties launches on February 12, 2026 and is a full-scale remake built in the Dragon Engine, paired with a completely new standalone expansion, Dark Ties, featuring the antagonist Yoshitaka Mine.
However, the release brings a controversial move. SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have confirmed they are removing the standalone Yakuza 3 Remastered title, with those who don’t already own it forced to buy the Yakuza Complete Series bundle if they want the game.
Dark Ties: The Remake Takes Over
The new package, Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties, hits PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and the Nintendo Switch 2 on February 12 and features graphical upgrades, rebuilt combat, all-new cutscenese, and the Bad Boy Dragon game mode.
To streamline things for new fans and to avoid confusion between the “Remastered” version and the “Kiwami” remake, the standalone Yakuza 3 Remastered is being removed from digital storefronts like Steam and the PlayStation Store.
The release of “Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties” is now less than one month away. Everyone at the studio has poured their hearts into creating this title, and we are truly looking forward to the day everybody can finally play it.

Y3 Remastered vs. The Bundle: What You Need to Know
If you want the original Yakuza 3 Remastered (the 1080p/60fps port of the PS3 game) without buying a massive bundle, you must buy it now.
Once Kiwami 3 launches, the standalone $19.99 listing for Yakuza 3 Remastered will disappear. The game will likely remain available only as part of the expensive Yakuza Remastered Collection or the $129.99 Complete Series bundle.

Is Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties Worth the Purchase?
The removal of consumer choice is always frustrating. However, Kiwami 3 promises to fix the “block-heavy” combat that plagued the original game. If you are a game preservationist or want to save money, grab the standalone remaster key before February 12. For everyone else, the upgrade looks essential.
Are you sticking with the classic “Blockuza” 3, or are you ready for the Dark Ties remake?
