NIS America is bringing Village in the Shade in the West on October 27, 2026. The publisher brings the localized farming simulator to PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam just in time for the Halloween season.

The Japanese version of the title, known as Honogurashi no Niwa, originally released on July 30, 2026. Western players will soon experience the unique mixture of traditional Japanese mountain farming and unsettling town rules.

Players looking to secure physical extras can pre-order the Limited Edition directly from the publisher. This premium package includes an art book, an original soundtrack, an acrylic block, and a set of metal pins.

What Does Patch 1.05 Fix Before the Western Launch?

Update patch 1.05 fixes critical progression blockers during nighttime home events and resolves an issue where livestock vanished upon upgrading pens out of order. Nippon Ichi Software detailed the update on Steam, confirming that any lost animals restore automatically once the patch applies.

The developers also addressed a specific bug tied to Chinana’s dining event, which previously prevented players from retrieving certain household items. The update forces these missing items directly into the player’s mailbox to ensure no progress is lost.

Furthermore, the patch stops a game crash triggered by relocating buildings packed with processing units. Players investigating the graveyard event will now see the sequence proceed correctly after clearing out the weeds.

How Does Village in the Sunshine Mode Work?

The Village in the Sunshine mode enforces absolute safety by completely removing the player’s ability to break Kagatsu village rules. This mechanic ensures no horror elements trigger during gameplay, focusing the experience entirely on agriculture, animal husbandry, and peaceful house customization.

A recent promotional trailer highlights that easily frightened players can experience a relaxing life without worry. The protagonist can safely grow vegetables, hunt, fish, and decorate their homestead at their own pace.

Normal gameplay severely punishes players who wander outside at night or talk to strangers. The Sunshine mode caters strictly to users wanting a pure, peaceful simulation without the hidden dangers.

Western Launch Right Before Halloween

NIS America scheduled the western release date right before Halloween to capitalize on the dual nature of the game. Director Yu Mizokami designed the project to blend a robust farming simulation with hidden, terrifying consequences for players who step out of line, taking heavy inspiration from the Yomawari series that she also directed.

Standard digital editions will arrive at normal retail prices closer to the October 27 launch date. Players seeking the physical Limited Edition are expected to spend $89.99 on NISA official Store, which unfortunately also confirm the game being in Key Card format for the Switch 2.
