Sam Stone holding against a backdrop of endless alien hordes, a familiar sight for fans waiting on the newly leaked Shatterverse

There’s a very specific kind of tension that sets in when you hear the distant, echoing scream of a Beheaded Kamikaze. It’s the sound of pure, unapologetic chaos. For decades, that feeling has been the signature of the Serious Sam franchise. Now, it looks like we’re about to experience it all over again.

The South Korean Leak

A completely unannounced game titled Serious Sam: Shatterverse just quietly popped up on the radar. The leak comes straight from the South Korean Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC).

Spotted by Gematsu, the listing was officially published on February 25, 2026, buried in a document detailing the board’s recent game approvals. Hinting at the game arrival well before any official reveal.

Croteam Gets Back to Basics

We haven’t heard much from the developers at Croteam regarding their flagship shooter in a few years.

Serious Sam 4 dropped back in 2020, followed by the surprisingly solid Siberian Mayhem standalone expansion in 2022.

After that, the studio shifted gears entirely to deliver the methodical, puzzle-heavy The Talos Principle 2 at the end of 2023. With those philosophical puzzles out of the way, returning to heavy-artillery action makes perfect sense for the studio’s current timeline.

What’s in a Name?

The title Shatterverse obviously points toward some sort of multiverse or fractured reality setup.

It gives Croteam an easy, chaotic excuse to throw Sam into wildly different eras and environments. Right now, neither Croteam nor Devolver Digital has said a single word about the project.

However, the South Korean rating board is historically dead-on when it comes to outing games right before their official reveal.

Bracing for the Next Alien Slaughter

Rating board leaks almost always mean a game is structurally complete and gearing up for its marketing cycle. It shouldn’t be long before we get a proper trailer showing off whatever Shatterverse actually brings to the table.

Until then, just keep an ear out for those screaming kamikazes. They’re probably closer than you think.
