Two Indie Games with the Same Name Released a Day Apart, Now They’re Bundled Together

Two indie games called “Piece by Piece” launched a day apart and teamed up in a Double Bundle with launch discounts for both titles.

Sometimes two games share similar names and it barely gets noticed. Other times, the situation turns into a messy legal fight over who gets to keep the title. That usually ends with one side forced to rename their game while the other keeps the original name. In short, it rarely ends well for everyone involved.

This week, though, the indie scene got a much nicer outcome. Two games called Piece by Piece released just one day apart, and instead of fighting over it, the developers decided to work together.

Two Games Named “Piece by Piece” Launch a Day Apart

It is actually refreshing to see how this situation turned out. Games launching with identical names almost always lead to confusion and eventually a legal dispute. One developer usually has to change their title, marketing materials get updated, and someone ends up losing time and money. That tends to favor the team with a bigger publisher behind them. But this time, things played out differently.

Two indie games titled Piece by Piece launched this week on Steam, just one day apart. Instead of letting it turn into a problem, the developers decided to acknowledge the coincidence and turn it into something positive by supporting each other’s releases.

The first Piece by Piece, developed by Gamkat and published by No More Robots, launched on March 11, 2026. The game is a cozy shopkeeping experience where players inherit a family repair shop and restore items for the animal residents of a small forest community. Players piece together broken objects, paint them, and decorate their shop while slowly bringing the place back to life. The game is currently available with a 20% launch discount.

Then less than two days later, on March 13, 2026, another game with the exact same title arrived. This Piece by Piece, developed and published by Neon Polygons, is a puzzle platformer built around a literal interpretation of its name. Each level is made of fragmented puzzle pieces that players connect and rearrange to progress through the stage. The game features 100 handcrafted levels with mechanics that evolve as players move deeper into the puzzle boxes. This version launched with a 15% discount.

Despite sharing the same name, the two games could not be more different. One focuses on relaxing shop management and repairing objects for woodland characters, while the other challenges players with logic-based platforming where entire levels are puzzles waiting to be assembled.

Instead of seeing the overlap as a problem, the developers leaned into the coincidence. The two games are now also available together in a Piece by Piece Double Bundle, giving players the option to grab both titles in one purchase while enjoying the launch discounts.

It is a small moment in the indie scene but a nice reminder of how collaborative things can still be. What could have easily turned into a legal headache ended up becoming a fun story about two developers sharing the spotlight, piece by piece.
