Twisted Tower is the first-person shooter from the team at Atmos Games, published by 3D Realms. It was first announced on 30th September 2023, with a shooter set in the 1950s.
With a game that certainly doesn’t hide its influences, with BioShock being one of the most prominent. It’s received some interest from the community thanks to the choice of an action-packed first-person adventure. Promising an intense story and captivating gameplay.
Twisted Tower: Demo Now Available
The team at Atmos Games, led by Thomas Brush, is finally back with some news about Twisted Tower. Their new first-person shooter adventure, with the demo release after over 3 years since development began in 2021.
The demo debuted on 12th February 2025, following the official announcement on 7th February from Thomas himself. He shared the development journey and the challenges faced during the project. Finally, a demo accompanied by a trailer.
Twisted Tower: Demo Content
The Twisted Tower demo gives us a taste of what to expect in the full game, made with Unity. Offering us in particular:
- Starting Areas: We start from the Twisted Tower Beach and cover the first floors of the tower.
- Weapons: A toy-themed arsenal with a Whac-A-Mole hammer, a Dart Tommy Gun, and an Elastic Band Gun. All with a secondary attack.
- Enemies: 4 types of enemies, all themed with demonic clowns and mascots.
The full game will offer 5 park areas, many weapons with upgrades, and various abilities to unlock. Providing a good variety for different routes and ways to approach the adventure. All to reach the top of the tower and win the love of your life.
Twisted Tower: Development Story and Influences
Twisted Tower is the new game from Atmos Games, a team known for Pinstripe and Neversong. Published in collaboration with the iconic 3D Realms and in development since 2021. An indie development team from South Carolina, led by Thomas Brush. With an ambitious project and the challenges faced by Thomas throughout development.
The game certainly doesn’t hide its influences, and as Thomas himself tells us, there’s a variety of sources. Mainly, the world of BioShock is the core influence, but there’s also the dark charm of the original Willy Wonka (1964) by Roald Dahl. Not to mention the dark world of Alice in Wonderland from American McGee’s games.
In Conclusion
Twisted Tower is definitely an ambitious game that pays homage to some of the most beloved games for their atmosphere, like BioShock and Alice by American McGee. But it also offers faster, more dynamic gameplay and a unique style. With the demo to try, we look forward to more news on the official launch.
