When is the Terranigma Release Date?

Publisher Clear River Games confirmed that Terranigma will launch worldwide on January 14, 2027. The classic 1995 action RPG returns after decades of high demand, marking its first global release for modern hardware. Attendees at the Tokyo Game Show 2026 can play an early demo featuring English and Japanese language support.

The team views the action RPG as a historical title worth preserving. Developer Quintet originally created the game during the 16-bit era, but the title never received an official North American release until this announcement.

Clear River Games manages the port with a focus on retaining the original pixel art style while modernizing the gameplay experience.

What Platforms Will Terranigma Launch On?

Terranigma will release on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and GOG. The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition physical release features am intriguing dual-compatible cartridge that supports both the original Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware.

Clear River Games strictly targets current and officially confirmed hardware for this release. The development team optimizes the action RPG to utilize modern controllers, giving players more accessible inputs than the original Super Nintendo Entertainment System gamepad allowed.

What Physical Editions Are Available for Terranigma?

Clear River Games offers four distinct physical versions for console players. The Standard Edition costs under €40 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, while the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition retails for around €45. A limited Foiled Standard Edition shares the exact pricing but features an exclusive foil cover through the Limited Run Games and Clear River Games storefronts.

The SteelBook Edition costs under €65 and packages the game inside a premium metal case featuring the protagonist Ark. For dedicated collectors, the Gaia Edition prices in at €200. The Gaia Edition bundles the SteelBook contents with a Yomi vinyl statue, a Pandora’s Box music box playing “Elle’s Theme,” a 200-page art book, an enamel pin, an original soundtrack CD, and a cloth world map.

What New Features Are in the Terranigma Re-Release?

The Terranigma re-release introduces a brand-new Arranged Mode alongside several quality-of-life improvements. The Arranged Mode rebalances the gameplay by increasing magic damage and adding an on-screen mini-map to streamline overworld navigation.

Clear River Games integrated features like a quick magic button, an item hot-swap menu, and a rewind function to alleviate difficult encounters. The development team also included a Museum mode to study enemies, a Music Player for the acclaimed soundtrack, and a CRT filter to replicate the classic 1995 aesthetic.
