While everyone thought preordering, much less preloading, was not going to be available for Subnautica 2, the team had other plans. Although this wasn’t their initial intention, even outright saying it on the official Discord server, the team ultimately changed their minds and allowed it.
Probably thanks to an earlier announcement of the game hitting 5M wishlists on Steam, plus the massive hype of the game in general, Unknown Worlds felt the excitement was so palpable they just had to do it.
Preordering Subnautica 2 is now available on Steam, Epic Games Store, and Xbox Store. Priced at $29.99 / £25.99 / 29,99€, with regional pricing in effect, it’s not a bad deal. Yes it’s early access but according to playtest users, average playtime at its current state is 20 hours, with some even clocking in 70 hours. That’s a big jump from the intended 12 hours.
