Lucasfilm Games, Zero36 Studio, and CCG Lab have announced a brand-new Star Wars collectible card game (CCG) that will bring the galaxy far, far away to PC and mobile.

Hello there! In need of a new way to explore the galaxy far, far away? Well, Lucasfilm Games has announced it is teaming up with Zero36 Studio and CCG Lab to develop a new CCG that will bring the “heart of the saga” to a new format.
In its statement, Cory Jones, CEO of CCG Labs, said the goal is to “craft an experience that captures the thrill, adventure, and heart of Star Wars.”
A New Digital Era for Star Wars
In a “Do or do not. There is no try” attitude, the new Star Wars CCG will be a standalone, digital-first title designed from the ground up for PC, iOS, and Android devices.
The developers promise a game that is “instantly familiar yet constantly surprising,” featuring an all-star roster of characters from every era, including characters like Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader.
Who is Developing the New Star Wars CCG?
Rebellions are built on hope, and the upcoming Star Wars collectible card game is a collaboration between CCG Lab and Zero36 Studio.
- CCG Lab: A studio specializing in creating experiences that put fans first, crafting card games that respect the worlds and lore of iconic pop culture franchises.
- Zero36 Studio: A subsidiary of ByteDance (parent company of TikTok), the studio brings expertise in developing a polished mobile experience
Star Wars CCG Pricing & Monetization
Without any further details, many fans may worry about cost, as pricing is the biggest enemy of a CCG player, as building a competitive deck is often expensive.
Digital card games are notorious for aggressive monetization. While it’s only speculation, it’s fair to assume that the Star Wars CCG will follow industry standards with a “Free to Play” model that heavily pushes microtransactions for card packs and cosmetics similar to Hearthstone and MTG: Arena.
While you may think, “It’s a trap!” Or “I have a bad feeling about this.” We know very little about the card game or its pricing structure, with the developers promising more details that will put our minds to rest “soon.”
Verdict: Is the Force Strong with This One?
Before you start yelling, “It’s over, Anakin. I have the high ground!” It’s fair to give it a chance, as it has renowned creative studios on board with serious financial backing, suggesting it could compete with other games in the genre like Marvel Snap. What do you think? Are you ready to settle down with a new Star Wars CCG and say, “Chewie, we’re home?”
