Shift at Midnight Launches Today and Joins Xbox Game Pass Day-One
Hot off the heels of the latest Xbox Game Pass Wave 2 announcement, Shift at Midnight is joining the library today following a one-month delay from its original release plans. The co-op horror game launches for PC via Steam, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox Game Pass at 8AM PT / 11AM ET / 4PM BST.
While crossplay is confirmed at launch, it will only be within the Xbox ecosystem. Steam players can only play with other Steam players for now but we’d assume that this will eventually change as updates for the game progress.
Part of this update is continued support for Endless Mode, which was originally planned as a post-launch addition. After finishing the game’s 13-night Story Mode, players can unlock the beta version of Endless Mode for an unlimited run of randomly generated shifts, with more updates planned over time to expand and refine the experience.
For anyone not subscribed to Game Pass, Shift at Midnight will also be available to purchase for $9.99 with a launch discount available for early buyers.
Shift at Midnight is a co-op horror game where you and your friends run a gas station during a series of night shifts, balancing everyday tasks like stocking shelves, taking deliveries, cleaning the store, and serving customers while trying to spot doppelgangers hiding among them. Every customer has to be checked by examining their ID, comparing details on the computer, and watching for suspicious behavior, because letting a doppelganger slip through means it will return later in the shift as a deadly creature. When that happens, the focus shifts from management to survival as you barricade doors, set traps, and find somewhere to hide until the danger passes.
Story Mode features 13 randomly generated nights, while Endless Mode, currently in beta and unlocked after finishing the story, offers an infinite series of shifts that will continue to receive updates over time.
