The Game Awards 2019 was recently held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, giving honour to several of the best video game releases this year and some of the people behind them.

While several games were in the running for the coveted top prize — Game of the Year — FromSoftware’s Sekiro Shadows Die Twice emerged victorious among the likes of Death Stranding, Resident Evil 2, The Outer Worlds, Control, and more.

Here are some of the big winners from The Game Awards 2019:

Game of the Year

Action Game

Action/Adventure Game

Family Game

Fighting Game

Games for Impact

Role-Playing Game

Sports/Racing Game

Strategy Game

VR/AR Game

Player’s Choice

Death Stranding did not win GOTY or any of the genre categories, but it did bag 2 awards in the form of Game Direction and Score & Music. League of Legends was hailed as best Esports Game. Shroud took home the prize for Content Creator of the Year, while Danny “Zonic” Sorensen was named this year’s best Esports Coach.

Last year, God of War bagged the Game of the Year Award. While God of War was almost a certain win, this year had divisive contenders which meant that no one was sure which game would get the award. Still, Sekiro definitely deserves the honour.

You can check out the rest of the categories and winners from the replay at the top of this post.
