S-Game released the official launch trailer for Phantom Blade Zero, confirming final launch logistics for the upcoming wuxia action RPG. The Chinese development studio verified that the digital edition remains on track for an October 29 release on PlayStation 5 and PC platforms.
The final video preview delivered an unexpected update for physical media enthusiasts. S-Game confirmed that boxed editions are officially entering production for a standalone console release following the digital rollout.
When Does The Phantom Blade Zero PS5 Physical Edition Release?
S-Game confirmed that physical PlayStation 5 editions of Phantom Blade Zero will launch during 2027. The physical distribution window arrives more than a full calendar year after the digital debut. This timeline gives boxed collectors three distinct physical tiers to choose from: Standard Edition, Deluxe Edition, and a steelbook-packaged Ultimate Edition.
The studio shared the announcement as a stinger attached to the official launch trailer on YouTube. S-Game explained that production constraints and disc pipeline schedules pushed the physical boxed prints past the 2026 launch window.
Collectors can expect three distinct boxed configurations:
- Standard Edition: Includes the base physical game disc and core case.
- Deluxe Edition: Packages cosmetic items, a digital art book, and a digital soundtrack voucher.
- Ultimate Edition: Houses the game disc inside an exclusive collectible metal steel case.
Retail price tags for the boxed 2027 releases remain unannounced. Digital versions currently retail at $60 for the base edition and around $70 for the digital deluxe bundle on the PlayStation Store.
What Are The Pre-Load Times And Storage Requirements For PS5?
Phantom Blade Zero requires approximately 134 GB of free storage on PlayStation 5 solid-state drives. S-Game opens digital pre-loads on October 26 at 7:00 PM PT (10:00 AM Beijing Time on October 27). This window allows pre-order customers to download the entire package before servers unlock on October 28 at 7:00 PM PT.
The 134 GB file footprint presents a notable technical challenge for physical media manufacturing. Standard PlayStation 5 Ultra HD Blu-ray discs hold a maximum of 100 GB of compressed data.
S-Game must either manufacture a two-disc retail package in 2027 or require a mandatory digital data download when players insert the single disc. The launch graphic displayed a single Blu-ray disc mockup, leaving distribution specifics open for future clarification.

Kungfupunk Combat Built On Unreal Engine 5
Phantom Blade Zero runs on Unreal Engine 5, combining Chinese wuxia traditions with dark steampunk machinery under an aesthetic the studio terms “Kungfupunk.” Players control Soul, an elite assassin framed for murdering his order’s patriarch. He is sustained by a corrupted synthetic heart that grants him exactly 66 days of remaining life.
The combat system draws inspiration from classic Hong Kong action cinema. Motion-captured martial artists directed the choreography, supporting over 30 primary weapons alongside 20 secondary Phantom Edges that allow rapid combo shifting.
Steam registrations have surpassed three million wishlists, positioning Phantom Blade Zero as one of the most visible action debuts of late 2026. While digital players begin combat next week, physical game archivers must wait until 2027 to place the steelbook on physical display shelves.
