Nintendo Switch Online Playtest Program Set for July – Key Dates Revealed

Nintendo has confirmed that another Nintendo Switch Online: Playtest Program is happening this month. This round will repeat the same test content seen back in October but with one major change. A total of 40,000 participants will be accepted this time, up from the original 10,000. Here’s everything you need to know, including key dates, eligibility, and how to apply.
Nintendo Switch Online Playtest Program Announced For July
Exciting news for Nintendo Switch Online members as another playtest program is on the way. The next Nintendo Switch Online Playtest Program will run from:
- July 28, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. PDT / July 29, 3:00 a.m. CEST / July 29, 10:00 a.m. JST; until
- August 10, 2025 at 5:59 p.m. PDT / August 11, 2:59 a.m. CEST / August 11, 9:59 a.m. JST
While this is a global event, only Nintendo Accounts registered in Japan, United States, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Canada, Brazil, and Mexico can participate. Also to join the playtest, participants must be at least 18 years old and have an active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership.
The applications for the playtest follow a two-step process. First, you must create your application profile then submit and process accordingly. Here are the date per step:
- Step 1: Create your application
- Start: July 18 at 3:00 p.m. PDT / July 19 at 12:00 a.m. CEST / 7:00 a.m. JST
- Ends: July 21 at 7:59 a.m. PDT / July 21 at 4:59 p.m. CEST / July 22 at 12:59 a.m. JST
- Step 2: Submit your application
- Begins: July 21 at 8:00 a.m. PDT / July 21 at 5:00 p.m. CEST / July 22 at 1:00 a.m. JST
Selections are done first-come, first-served for applicants outside Japan. In Japan, participants will be selected by raffle if demand is high.

Playable content will be the same regardless of whether you apply solo or as a group. Some save data will be shared between group members on the participant website. Participants are expected not to share or discuss any information related to the test software or the website with others outside their group.
With Nintendo aiming to include up to 40,000 participants, this is one of the largest Switch Online playtests to date. If you’re eligible and interested, make sure to prepare your application early and be ready to apply as soon as the window opens.
