NCAA Basketball is the EA Sports sports video game series for basketball. A game series that focuses on college-level basketball. The series was previously known as NCAA March Madness, born in 1998. With the last title dating back to 2009 with the decision to cancel the series.
A story that closely resembles the College Football series, also by EA, canceled in 2014. Although it returned after almost 10 years with College Football 25, receiving huge success with the title being hailed as the best-selling sports game in the USA. EA Sports: The return of NCAA Basketball as College Basketball
As June 2025 comes to a close, news arrives that has surprised quite a few fans of video game basketball. With a tweet on 30 June 2025 from the official EA Sports account citing “Bring the Madness. Let’s run it back” and some Basketballs. A tweet that has sparked huge enthusiasm from the community.
Particularly with the hashtag #CBB, which seems to confirm the return of the NCAA Basketball series as College Basketball (CBB). Following, in short, the huge success of the return of College Football 25 which debuted on 19 July 2024. A return that would also go on to replace the NBA Live series, which has been on hold since 2019.

EA Sports College Basketball: What We Know So Far
News that has pleasantly surprised many fans. Who would like to see a College Football-style treatment for EA’s CBB as well. With some interesting news shared by Matt Brown of Extra Points, a site specializing in college sports. He confirms that the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) will be the licensing partner, but will not lend its name. Confirming the return of the series as College Basketball.
Furthermore, from what Brown confirms from his sources, it seems the game will see a launch window between 2028 and 2029. With about 3 years until the real return of the series, potentially due to issues with licensing and discussions between EA and 2K. But also a return that would fall 10 years after the last title, just like what happened with College Football 25.

In short, it seems still too early to see the return of EA’s college basketball sports game.
