Nakwon: Last Paradise, a post-apocalyptic multiplayer survival game featuring zombies, recently completed Closed Alpha test. The significant number of survivors identified by developer Nexon indicates that this could be the next big phenomenon in extraction gaming.

The extraction shooter genre is often criticized for being overcrowded, but Nexon’s latest foray into the post-apocalypse has proven there is still plenty of room for innovation, if you have the scale to back it up.
From March 11 to March 16, 2026, the Nakwon: Last Paradise Closed Alpha transformed the ruins of South Korea’s capital into a digital battlefield for nearly 280,000 unique players.

The Seoul Extraction: Why 280,000 Players Rushed the Alpha?
The March 11–16 playtest wasn’t just a small tech demo. It was a massive proof of concept for Nexon’s brutal PvPvE vision.
With a peak of over 37,000 concurrent users on Steam, the playtest was a cultural moment for survival fans. While most titles focus solely on the “raid,” Nakwon bridges the gap between brutal PvPvE combat and deep social simulation.
By day, you navigate a tiered society where resources are earned; by night, you risk it all in a city where the zombies are relentless, and other players are even worse.
Players didn’t just fight zombies. They navigated a complex “Life Simulation” where scavenging for scraps directly impacts your social standing.
Urban Survival Reimagined: Gameplay & Performance?
The statistics from the Alpha are staggering. We saw 1.8 million successful extractions, proving the gameplay loop is incredibly addictive.
One high-tier player even managed to extract 3.7 million credits, showing just how high the ceiling goes for the top-tier scavengers.
However, this isn’t a budget experience. The RTX 3080 Ti recommendation targets a premium PC setup to handle the dense urban environments and advanced zombie AI.
When is the Next Expedition?
Currently, the status remains “Coming Soon” on Steam. While the playtest is over, the momentum is clearly building toward an Early Access launch.
The best move is to wishlist the game now. This ensures you get a ping for the next test and have a chance to avoid any potential high price when it finally hits full retail.
