Marvel Cosmic Invasion is out today and while its launch is something to celebrate as it is, Xbox Game Pass members, particularly Ultimate and PC members, have something extra to celebrate about. The game launched day-one into the service today, officially kicking off the December lineup.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion Joins Xbox Game Pass on Day-One
We have finally landed on the Christmas month, and like the true holiday spirit, the gifts start on the very first day of December. Xbox Game Pass opens the month with a day-one launch of Marvel Cosmic Invasion.
While the wave 1 list for December has not been officially released, Marvel Cosmic Invasion, along with Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, have been confirmed to join the service this month. The former lands today while the latter comes in tomorrow.
Since this is a day-one launch, only Ultimate and PC Game Pass members can access the game through their subscription. Premium and Essential members will have to wait longer for the game to find its way there.
For those not part of Game Pass, you can still try Marvel Cosmic Invasion for free with its Steam demo. It includes 2 levels of arcade mode and 9 playable characters.
MARVEL Cosmic Invasion is a brand-new retro beat ’em up from Tribute Games and Dotemu, made with Marvel Games, that plays like a fast, flashy love letter to classic arcade brawlers and the wider Marvel universe. The story kicks off with Annihilus unleashing the Annihilation Wave across the galaxy, forcing a huge lineup of heroes to team up and fight across iconic locations, from New York City all the way to the Negative Zone.
You’ll have 15 playable heroes to choose from, each with distinct moves, and the game’s big hook is the “Cosmic Swap” tag-team system: pick two characters per level and switch instantly to chain combos, mix abilities, and pull off special attacks with real tactical flair. Wrapped in full-color pixel art inspired by Marvel’s classic eras, the whole thing supports easy drop-in/drop-out co-op both locally and online, making it built for solo runs or chaotic multiplayer sessions.
The game officially launched December 1, 2025 digitally, with a physical release set for March 13, 2026.
