Kotaku reports that three GTA games are being remastered by Rockstar Games, according to their unnamed sources. The games are Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto San Andreas.

The report comes more than a year after rumors have circulated about the trilogy’s remaster. According to Kotaku, they have received details from three reliable sources and can confirm that the remastered versions of the games are in the final stages of development.

The games have been remastered using Unreal Engine and will include both new and old graphics. The UI are getting updated too, but will still retain its classic style. All these are being worked on by Rockstar Dundee (Scotland).

Originally, the trilogy was planned to be released as a bonus gift for players who purchased the next-gen ports of GTA 5 and GTA Online, but obviously it did not push through. It was then planned to be released earlier this year, but the report says plans have changed again and that the trilogy is now planned to be released this October or November for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Switch. The PC and mobile versions might be released next year since Rockstar could be focusing on releasing it on consoles first.

Rockstar Games is yet to release an official word about this.
