Enshrouded – The New Sensation on Steam

Steam has another Early Access smash-hit this January after Keen Games’ open-world survival game, Enshrouded, hits an incredible 1 million players just four days after it releases into Steam Early Access.

Announcing the milestone on X, Keen Games said: “In just four days, Enshrouded has attracted over one million players. We are completely blown away by its success and the overwhelmingly positive reception. From the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank all our players.”

Enshrouded’s success follows in the footsteps of the controversial Pokémon-like Palworld, which broke all kinds of records as it became the most-played game on Steam and the second most-played game ever on the platform.

Keen Games – Masters of Crafting Engaging Worlds

After only releasing on January 24, Enshrouded is currently sitting on a “Very Positive” rating on Steam with 14,000 reviews, which is a big step up from the 15,000 overall “Very Positive” review the studio’s other game, Portal Knights has since it launched in 2017.

It’s tough to say whether the unprecendented success of Palworld’s launch helped Enshrouded, but with both games sharing crafting, base building, survival, and open-world mechanics, it would be ignorant to suggest it didn’t help Enshrouded attract attention.

It’s a success for Keen Games but also a fantastic example of what Steam Early Access can do for a game and its development team. By reaching over a million players, Enshrouded will benefit from player feedback that wouldn’t be possible with a beta, and Keen Games will get money from sales to implement changes, fix bugs, and add content.
