An Elden Ring movie could be on its way after reports emerged Alex Garland had signed on as director with shooting set to begin in 2026. The source has since been taken down, and Bandai Namco has not confirmed or denied the rumor.
Rumors are swirling from a report first seen on Nexus Point News – available to see with the Wayback Machine – in the gaming and entertainment world that an Elden Ring movie will begin production in 2026 with Alex Garland, the writer and director of Civil War and Ex Machina, to direct.
The article has since been taken down, but it was reported that Garland would direct the movie for production company A24. Despite an attempt by PC Gamer, A24 said they “can’t comment on this at the moment” and a Bandai Namco PR representative declined to comment, simply stating “This was a fun thing to land to after my PAX flight!”

However, on May 7, entertainment journalist Jeff Sneider tweeted that “Alex Garland IS in negotiations to direct Elden Ring for A24.” Meanwhile, nothing is confirmed or denied, leaving everyone confused until an official statement is released by Garland, A24, Bandai Namco, or FromSoftware.
