Techland has revealed that Dying Light Bad Blood, the battle royale spin-off to their award-winning survival game, will be launching on Steam via its Early Access programme this September. Their entry into the extremely popular genre will be placed behind a $19.99 paywall while in Early Access, but will transition to free-to-play once it fully launches.

The game will have 12 players roaming through maps while fighting off hordes of the undead. To actually win, players will need to not only scavenge for weapons, but also retrieve blood samples to gain access to evacuation by helicopter. You can check out the game’s launch trailer below:

Not only does the PvE element of having to face AI-controlled zombies set it apart from other battle royale games, there’s also a heavy emphasis on parkour movement and melee combat. This is, after all, a Dying Light game.

In case you’re wondering if your machine can run the game, here are the system requirements:

  • Minimum: OS: Windows 10,8,7 (64 bit); Processor: Intel® Core© i5-2500 @3.3 GHz / AMD FX-8320 @3.5 GHz; Memory: 4 GB RAM; Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 560 / AMD Radeon© HD 6870 (1GB VRAM); DirectX: Version 11; Storage: 40 GB available space; Sound Card: DirectX® compatible
  • Recommended: OS: Windows 10,8,7 (64 bit); Processor: Intel® Core© i5-4670K @3.4 GHz / AMD FX-8350 @4.0 GHz; Memory: 8 GB RAM; Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 780 / AMD Radeon© R9 290 (2GB VRAM); DirectX: Version 11; Storage: 40 GB available space; Sound Card: DirectX® compatible

Those who adopt the game early can expect free updates during the Early Access period which will add new maps, modes and in-game items. They’ll also be entitled to exclusive content and a bit of in-game currency.

Those who need further convincing can first sign up for the global playtest scheduled to run September 1-2. Registration opens on August 22nd at 9PM BST/10PM CEST. You can check out the official site for more information. Another playtest is scheduled to run from August 25-26 but will only be for selected players.
