The trailer contains the same footage featured in a Japanese overview trailer released earlier, but this time we actually get to understand what’s going on thanks to the subtitles.
First, we now know that the player will be “linked” to Goku and the other Z Warriors. This basically means that you’ll be taking over control of their bodies. You’ll also be able to have conversations with the actual characters you’re possessing.
The story mode will be broken into 3 arcs, the first of which starts with the Z Warriors mysteriously fainting one by one. This is when you wake up in the body of the series’ protagonist, Goku. And although it wasn’t clear at first, the trailer seems to indicate that Android 21, together with Android 16, will be the game’s main bad guys.
The story mode is definitely shaping up to be really crazy, but it shouldn’t be anything fans of the long-running anime shouldn’t be able to handle.
Dragon Ball FighterZ is coming to PC, Xbox One and PS4 on 26 January next year.
