Update 1.5.0 implements a highly requested Guard Counter system to improve defensive options
Key Takeaways
  • Patch 1.5.0 introduces a new Guard Counter mechanic and a dedicated Tutorial mode for practicing combat.
  • Enemy hitboxes, attack tracking, and armor durability have been significantly nerfed to reduce overall difficulty.
  • Future updates for the game will now be handled by the development studio Unite Plus Co., Ltd.

What Does Update 1.5.0 Add to Double Dragon Revive?

Update 1.5.0 of Double Dragon Revive adds a Guard Counter action that allows players to instantly counter-attack after successfully blocking an incoming strike. It also introduces a dedicated Tutorial stage, alongside expanded activation ranges for Hyper Blows and a widened defensive guard radius for all playable characters.

To further improve combat fluidity, the developers implemented new invulnerability frames during specific damage animations. This prevents players from being trapped in relentless combo loops by standard enemies.

The widened guard range now allows players to block attacks coming from the front diagonals and sides. This heavily reduces the frustration of taking cheap hits while surrounded in crowd-control situations.

Extensive Enemy Nerfs and Boss Adjustments

The bulk of the 1.5.0 patch targets enemy behavior and boss fight difficulty. Based on player feedback since launch, developers have drastically reduced the tracking capabilities and armor durability of numerous opponents.

Characters like Marcus, Roper, and Brunov have seen their homing attacks scaled back. Visual indicators are now present for highly damaging moves, including Williams’ zigzag dash and standard Molotov Cocktail fire hazards, making the battlefield easier to read.

According to the official patch notes on Steam, the notorious Four Guardians battle has been specifically re-tuned. The overall attack frequency and behavior patterns of the bosses were adjusted to lower the encounter’s difficulty across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
