About Nuclear Throne

Humanity has vanished, allowing mutants and creatures to wander a devastated planet. Equipped with strong weapons, survivors gain new skills and extremities. The final test is fighting across the wasteland to claim the Nuclear Throne.

• Select from 13 characters, each possessing a unique ability. Grip two weapons and adjust to various fighting techniques.
• Death resets your progress in this roguelike. Collect radiation to level up, choosing from random mutations and a final ultra-mutation to power up your run.
• Battle across seven tough areas to beat the final boss. Winning lets you restart the game from the beginning, with everything being much harder.
• Play alone or with a friend locally. Join global daily and weekly challenges on the same random levels to earn top scores.

Nuclear Throne Reviews

While an older entry in the genre, Nuclear Throne is still creative and fun and feels totally fresh in the sea of bullet hells. It has just enough to it to keep you going, though, by comparison to more robust roguelikes, it has the potential to dry up after a while if you’re not mastering it fast enough. Nonetheless, it’s well worth a dive into, especially with its appearance on Xbox Game Pass.

But Why Tho?

If you like a roguelike, this is an easy sell, but as Nuclear Throne eases you in gently, it’s also a damn good entry point if you want to try your luck with the genre for the first time. The graphical style won’t appeal to everyone, but the gameplay is the star here, and even if it is punishingly hard in the latter moments, you’ll be having too much fun to care.
