NHL 26 has that TV-like feel that I think is just right: most players follow the NHL or hockey on TV at least a little bit. It's an American-style show. It feels good when you make contact, check someone, and the player animations are always pushing the envelope a little further. The flagship modes are still there (Be a Pro, Franchise, etc.), the innovations are a little timid, but revolutions are rare in sports games anyway. It's still a successful game.
