- Assetto Corsa EVO Update 0.9 introduces mandatory pit stops and global Special Events to enhance multiplayer racing strategy.
- Three new vehicles join the roster, including the Mazda RX-7 FD Spirit R and two Audi R8 variants, alongside overhauled slick tyre physics.
- KUNOS Simulazioni officially confirmed that the highly requested Free Roam mode remains in active development ahead of the 1.0 launch.
Special Events and Multiplayer Strategy Redefine the Meta
505 Games and KUNOS Simulazioni launched Update 0.9 for the PC Early Access version of Assetto Corsa EVO. The developers centered this patch on competitive structure. The new Special Events mode introduces developer-curated scenarios with fixed track and vehicle conditions.
Players compete on global leaderboards through asynchronous Hotlap and Hotstint modes. KUNOS Simulazioni integrated an optional “Limited Attempts” function into these events to simulate real race pressure and prevent infinite trial runs.
Multiplayer racing receives a highly requested strategic layer with the implementation of mandatory pit stops. Drivers must now calculate fuel consumption and tyre degradation while managing their strategy dynamically via the on-screen Multi-Function Display (MFD).
What New Cars Arrive in Assetto Corsa EVO Update 0.9?
Assetto Corsa EVO Update 0.9 introduces three new high-performance vehicles to the simulation. Players can now drive the Audi R8 LMS GT2, the Audi R8 V10 performance quattro, and the Mazda RX-7 FD Spirit R (Type A). The developers recreated all three vehicles using exact real-world telemetry data.
These additions expand both the GT and street performance categories within the game. KUNOS Simulazioni paired these new vehicles with a completely overhauled Racing Slick Tyre model to improve grip behavior.
The updated tyre physics apply to all GT racing cars in the simulator, ranging from the Mazda MX-5 Cup to the Ferrari F40. The studio states in the official Steam patch notes that this overhaul drastically improves handling consistency across the board.

Is Update 0.9 the Final Early Access Patch for Assetto Corsa EVO?
Update 0.9 is not the final Early Access release for Assetto Corsa EVO. KUNOS Simulazioni officially confirmed that development continues beyond this patch. The studio announced that the highly anticipated Free Roam mode remains in active production and will arrive before the Version 1.0 launch.
Some community members expressed concern regarding the pacing of early access content drops. The studio addressed these fears directly on the Assetto Corsa official website, confirming that player feedback helped stabilize the core mechanics for future expansions.
The developers did not provide an exact release date for the Free Roam update. However, the engineering team noted they are getting very close to finalizing the open-world architecture for public testing.
Update 0.9 is almost here and it's bringing three new cars to Assetto Corsa EVO.

Physics Refinements and Hardware Stability Take Priority
The patch notes reveal extensive background work on the rendering engine and peripheral control systems. KUNOS Simulazioni implemented exposure fusion, a graphics feature designed to mimic how the human eye adjusts to dynamic light changes on the track.
Hardware stability receives significant attention in this build. The engine now seamlessly recovers force feedback devices, including Fanatec and Logitech TrueForce hardware, following unexpected USB disconnects or alt-tab interruptions.
PC players can access the Assetto Corsa EVO Early Access program on Steam for just under €40. The studio continues to monitor server stability following the deployment of the new global leaderboards and asynchronous event structures.
