Improvements in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom looks graphically much better than its predecessor, Breath of the Wild, even though both games run on the same console.

The world of Hyrule in Tears of the Kingdom has not become smaller but has been expanded. There are not only new areas in the Overworld, but also flying dungeons and underground caves, giving the world a dynamic atmosphere. The game does not require loading screens to transition between dungeons in the sky and the Overworld.

Since the game now takes place more in the clouds, the clouds have been further improved. Link can now fly through the clouds or pass by them, providing a sense of depth, especially in the dungeons.

The lighting has also been improved. For example, running during a thunderstorm is more dynamic, as the lightning strikes illuminate the surroundings, intensifying the feeling of a storm. Lighting effects in buildings and shadows have also been enhanced in Tears of the Kingdom.

The fast travel function has been optimized in Tears of the Kingdom and is a few seconds faster compared to Breath of the Wild.

In Zelda: Breath of the Wild, the resolution was 900p, but to provide players with a sharper image, Nintendo uses AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution to enhance the graphics in Tears of the Kingdom to 1080p.

Fear of Many Fans

Even before the game was released, some pre-release testers experienced the problem of the game’s speed often dropping to 20 FPS or less. Fortunately, this issue was resolved before the release, so now you can enjoy the game with nearly constant 30 FPS.

The FPS now rarely drops below 30 FPS, although this tends to happen more frequently when using the new Ultra-Hand feature, but only for a few seconds.

Is Tears of the Kingdom too much for the Switch?

The answer is no. For what Tears of the Kingdom offers, it runs on the Switch with impressive performance. Of course, the gaming experience would be even more enjoyable on a better console.

However, unfortunately, we cannot expect a new Nintendo console this year.
