GRID Legends is bringing back its “Nemesis” system, a popular feature included in GRID 2019. EA Associate Creative Director Steven Brand talked about this in an interview, including some details about the Choreographer 2.0.

How Does the “Nemesis System” Work in GRID Legends?

In GRID Legends, you will not just drive. The game is full of other competitive drivers, and rivalry is essentially a part of the story. Here’s where the “Nemesis” system comes in.

This system gives GRID Legends a more intense environment because you are up against drivers who are out to get you, making sure you get defeated at all costs. For example, you decided to ram on another driver’s car to use as a brake. Once done with your dirty deed, you will see the opponent’s dot on the map turning red, which means you should watch your tail because once they get near you, they will make sure to deal some sort of damage to your car.

The “Nemesis” system is not limited to a single car too, because sometimes you don’t please everybody.

Codemasters did add a few things to the “Nemesis” system. First is that the Nemesis will remain between events, and Brand explains this as like having a fight with a specific driver, where you will see his Nemesis status at the start of the next event. Next is you can also tag other players as Nemesis in online mode.

Choreographer Upgraded

Brand also talked a little about the upgraded Choreographer feature. Choreographer was introduced in GRID 2019 and it allows the game’s AI to act unpredictably. In GRID Legends, its has been upgraded to Choreographer 2.0 and brand says it should ensure every race “conveys a unique feeling. An AI driver can be affected in a number of ways, from a small mistake in a corner to losing a wheel, spinning or rolling over.”
