Resident Evil: Survival Unit Gets an Official Release Date
Announced just one month after Requiem’s presentation, the upcoming free-to-play title is a joint effort between Capcom, Aniplex Inc., and Korea’s JoyCity Corporation. The project is led by Shinji Hashimoto — a legendary producer behind Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts.
Survival Unit focuses on tactical gameplay built around base management and team survival. After a successful closed test phase, the game is set to launch worldwide on November 18, 2025, for iOS and Android, at 3 AM (CET). A wider Asian rollout is planned for early 2026 in South Korea, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Vietnam. Pre-registrations are already live on the App Store and Google Play.
【Official Launch Date Confirmed!】
The wait is finally over! Gameplay: Strategy Meets Survival Horror
In Resident Evil: Survival Unit, players command a team of survivors trapped in a city ravaged by a mysterious outbreak. You’ll need to build shelters, gather resources, fortify defenses, and explore the ruins — all while facing the infected.
The game pays homage to the franchise’s roots, featuring fixed camera angles reminiscent of the PS1 era and a gritty art direction faithful to the original atmosphere.
Familiar Faces Return — Without Gacha Mechanics
Beloved characters such as Leon S. Kennedy, Claire Redfield, Jill Valentine, and Ada Wong will make appearances throughout the story. Aniplex has confirmed there will be no gacha system, a reassuring move for fans wary of aggressive monetization.
While the economic model remains under wraps, early indications suggest a system based on optional time accelerations for base construction rather than pay-to-win mechanics.
In Conclusion: A New Direction for Capcom’s Mobile Strategy
With Resident Evil: Survival Unit, Capcom seems to be testing new ground — merging the franchise’s trademark tension with accessible mobile gameplay. If successful, it could pave the way for a new line of narrative-driven survival experiences designed for smartphones.
