Guilty Gear Strive 2.0 Deletes Wild Assault for Counter Blitz

Arc System Works has announced Guilty Gear -Strive- Version 2.00, a major update that finally brings the legendary Jam Kuradoberi home and guts the game’s most controversial mechanics to build something better.

Guilty Gear Strive 2.0 Deletes Wild Assault for Counter Blitz

During the Arc World Tour Finals in South Korea, developers confirmed that April 9, 2026, will mark the birth of a new era for Guilty Gear -Strive-, as the massive 2.00 update effectively reboots the competitive meta, most notably by retiring the divisive Wild Assault mechanic in favor of the all-new Counter Blitz.

But for many, the system changes are second to the roster. Season 5 officially kicks off with the return of Jam Kuradoberi, followed by the long-awaited arrival of Robo-Ky this summer.

Whether you are a veteran looking for a reason to return or a newcomer waiting for the right entry point, the “Strive 2.0” era represents the most significant evolution in the series’ five-year history.

The 2.00 Overhaul: Counter Blitz and System Shifts

The headline of this update is the departure of the Wild Assault mechanic. In its place, players get the Counter Blitz function. This new defensive-offensive hybrid costs 50% Burst and aims to shift the momentum of high-pressure matches.

Beyond universal mechanics, the 2.00 update introduces brand-new special moves for the core cast. Sol, Ky, Leo, and Nagoriyuki are all receiving significant toolkit expansions that change their traditional combo routes.

Season 5 Roadmap: Jam Kuradoberi & Robo-Ky

Season 5 kicks off on April 9 with the long-awaited return of Jam Kuradoberi. Fans of her high-speed, aggressive cook-fighting style have waited years for this redesign, and her Guilty Gear -Strive- debut looks faster than ever.

Looking further ahead, Robo-Ky is officially confirmed for Summer 2026. This season also marks the debut of the Blazing Pass in May, a seasonal rewards system that introduces character accessories and fresh outfits for the first time in the game’s history.

A Masterstroke in Momentum?

Arc System Works is betting big on the 2.0 update to keep their momentum high. While the introduction of the Blazing Pass might raise some eyebrows, the sheer volume of free system changes suggests a developer committed to the long game.

Given the scale of the April update, there hasn’t been a better time to pick up a fight stick.
