Update Jan 19th – Xbox Game Pass Leaving Soon section has now been updated with the titles leaving on January 31st. It includes 7 games including absolute gems like Citizen Sleeper 2 and Shady Part of Me which you shouldn’t miss. Also included is Catalclismo which just entered the service in September. Original publication – While it’s nice to finally get some Xbox Game Pass news, especially since there was no Wave 2 lineup announced last month, the first update is unfortunately about what’s leaving. Microsoft has updated the Leaving Soon section, revealing five games set to depart the service on January 16.

Games Leaving Game Pass January 2026

Different year, same routine. Xbox Game Pass has updated its Leaving Soon section before making the official Wave 1 announcement for January 2026. It’s always a bit of a bummer to see what’s on the way out, but it’s also a good sign since that means the January lineup reveal is right around the corner.

The good news is that 2026 isn’t starting out with a purge. Only five games are currently listed to leave including former day-one addition Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn.

Also on the list is the cyberpunk RPG The Ascent, which is leaving the service for the second time. This return run was much shorter than the first, with the game spending only about six months on Game Pass this time around.

Usually, the games shown in Leaving Soon ahead of an announcement end up matching the final list but it does change occasionally. So it’s worth checking back once the Wave 1 lineup is posted to confirm the final set of departures for the first half of January.

• The Grinch: Christmas Adventures – Merry & Mischievous Edition

Wave 2 leaving on January 31st

• Cataclismo (PC)
• Starbound (PC)

• Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders
• Orcs Must Die! Deathtrap
• PAW Patrol World
• Shady Part of Me

All of these games are currently available at 20% off for Game Pass members until they leave the service.

The official wave 1 announcement is expected to be released sometime today. For now, check out the 2 games already part of the January lineup.
