Balatro Crossover Arrives in Assassin’s Creed Shadows Update 1.0.5

AC Shadows 1.0.5 update adds a Balatro crossover, new quests, Dead by Daylight collab, parkour tweaks, and gameplay improvements.

The crossover has come full circle. In February, Balatro paid homage to Assassin’s Creed by featuring the franchise in its deck-building chaos. Now, just a few months later, Balatro steps into the shadows by joining the world of feudal Japan in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. With today’s Title Update 1.0.5, the rogue deck-builder makes its stylish mark on Ubisoft’s latest adventure.

Balatro Trinket Included In AC Shadows 1.0.5 Title Update

The Assassin’s Creed Shadows 1.0.5 update is live today, May 27th at 2 PM UTC / 10 AM EDT / 7 AM PT. Alongside stability improvements and gameplay polish, the update introduces exciting new content including two major crossovers.

Thrown to the Dogs Now Available to All

One of the standout changes is the general release of the quest “Thrown to the Dogs,” which was previously a pre-order bonus. Players who missed out now have a chance to take on this emotional quest which centers around a loyal canine companion seeking vengeance for his fallen master.

Enter Balatro: The “Winning Hand” Arrives

The highlight of the update, however, is the much-anticipated Balatro crossover. After Assassin’s Creed made a cameo in Balatro’s card deck earlier this year, it was only a matter of time before the deck-builder returned the favor. And now it has in style.

Players can now obtain the Balatro-themed trinket for Naoe, and a matching amulet for Yasuke called “Winning Hand”. This special item adds a unique gameplay twist by offering a chance to inflict a random affliction effect on combo enders.

Ubisoft has not revealed where in the world the trinket can be found, leaving players to discover it through exploration. Soundslike a fittingly rogue-like twist to honor Balatro’s spirit.

Dead by Daylight Collaboration Adds a Horror Twist

This update also brings with it the debut of Assassin’s Creed’s first collaboration with Dead by Daylight. The event introduces a free quest that becomes available from the Hideout once Yasuke has been unlocked as a playable character. Completing this limited-time quest will reward players with unique cosmetic items tied to the horror universe.

Beyond the quest, the collaboration extends to the in-game store, where players will find a new pack themed around Dead by Daylight. This includes stylized outfits and weapons for both protagonists, new trinkets, and a chance to ride Maurice, the unforgettable steed from the Dead by Daylight.

Outside the headline collaborations, Title Update 1.0.5 delivers improvements to the core gameplay experience. Parkour has seen significant refinement, the Photo Mode has also been expanded, and of course, the update brings a host of fixes to known bugs and stability issues across all platforms.
