Recently, some interesting news arrived about the next chapter in the The Witcher series. Fans are currently calling it The Witcher 4 or Polaris.
The Witcher is a video game series developed by CD Projekt Red, based on the Polish fantasy series Wiedźmin by Andrzej Sapkowski. It effectively serves as a sequel to the novels, following the story of the Witcher Geralt of Rivia, in a fantasy Action RPG series that draws heavily from Polish folklore and Slavic mythology.
The first game, released in 2007, immediately garnered interest, followed by the successful Assassins of Kings. The series truly cemented its legacy with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in 2015, selling over 75 million copies, with the third installment alone exceeding 50 million copies sold. It stands as one of the genre-defining ARPGs both in terms of narrative and gameplay.

The Witcher: A new Saga Begins – The Next Chapter in The Witcher
Just a few days ago, fans noticed a major update on GOG, where a new store page was created for The Witcher: A new Saga Begins. This upcoming chapter in the The Witcher series appeared on the GOG app, with a placeholder date of 31 December 2025.
According to Comicbook on 8 November this is clearly a placeholder date. Still, the creation of the page by CDPR suggests significant progress in development, although the team is mindful of pacing—especially after Cyberpunk 2077’s rocky launch.
The Witcher 4: Polaris – Latest Leak on the Character Branko
The news doesn’t stop here. On 9th November 2024, reddit user KekanKok noticed an interesting detail on Jake Lampert’s profile, hinting at his role in the upcoming The Witcher game.
It appears that Jake is voicing the mysterious character Branko, the first confirmed name for The Witcher 4 / Polaris. However, it is unclear if Jake’s character will play a significant role or even if he’s going to voice an ally or an antagonist.
The Witcher 4: Potential and When It Could Release
There’s still a long way to go for the next chapter in the The Witcher series, with CDPR revealing only a few details so far. Development, confirmed as Project Polaris, started at least as early as 2022, with the team moving from the REDengine to the more mainstream Unreal Engine 5, supported by a team made of roughly 300 people.
The game is also designed as an ideal entry point for new players, reinforcing that Geralt will not be the main character in this chapter. Although 31 December 2025 is likely a placeholder, we eagerly await official news from CDPR and perhaps even a teaser at the The Game Awards 2024 in December.
