After decades of waiting, World of Warcraft is getting player housing with the upcoming Midnight expansion. Blizzard revealed the plans to introduce player housing during the recent Warcraft 30th Anniversary Direct. Players are already excited to create their own unique homes.
Player housing is a much-requested feature amongst the WoW community, and players will finally get to design and personalize their spaces with the Midnight expansion. Blizzard confirmed the feature is in the works and that players will learn more in 2025.
World of Warcraft: Midnight is the next expansion after The World Within and is part of the Worldsoul Saga. Blizzard plans to fully reveal Midnight in the summer of 2025, with the expansion possibly releasing in February 2026.
Blizzard has not revealed any particular information about how player housing in WoW will work. But if it’s similar to the same feature in other MMOs like Guild Wars 2, FF14 Online, and The Lord of the Rings Online, players can expect to decorate, customize, and possibly invite friends to their homes.
World of Warcraft got a brief glimpse of what could come with the player housing feature when Garrisons launched as part of the Warlords of Draenor expansion in 2014. With Garrisons, players could level perks, recruit followers, embark on invasions, and build outposts to gain zone-wide bonuses. Garrisons never made it past Warlords of Draenor, but Blizzard is looking longer term when player housing goes live.

The World of Warcraft is eagerly anticipating the feature many MMOs already have, and there is plenty more to come. The Midnight expansion for WoW will get a full reveal in the summer of 2025, with new stories, quests, open-world challenges, dungeons, and world events expected throughout next year.
In the recent Warcraft 30th Anniversary Direct, Blizzard revealed Pandaria for WoW Classic and remasters of Warcraft 1 and 2. A new patch is coming for Warcraft 3: Reforged, and Hearthstone is getting a Starcraft crossover with new cards coming to the CCG.
The WoW community is buzzing with excitement as player housing comes to Blizzard’s MMO for the first time. A full reveal of the Midnight expansion and its coming features will happen in the late Summer of 2025. With so much to come to WoW in the coming year, this is a great time to subscribe or return to Azeroth.
