Star Fox fans have a moment to celebrate as developer Chuhai Labs has dropped an extended gameplay trailer for Wild Blue Skies, considered a spiritual successor to Nintendo’s beloved 1990s on-rails shooter series.

Previously titled Wild Blue, the upcoming on-rails shooter by Chuhai Labs, a studio founded by ex-Nintendo programmer Giles Goddard, who worked on the original Star Fox 64, has been renamed Wild Blue Skies.
Alongside its newly revealed name, Chuhai Labs has released an extended gameplay trailer, offering a look at a map, protagonists, and combat.
A True Spiritual Successor from a Nintendo Veteran
Wild Blue Skies aims to reimagine classic on-rail adventure shooters from the 1990s, and its similarity to Star Fox 64 is intentional. The project is led by Giles Goddard, who contributed to several Nintendo games from that era.
Similar to Star Fox, players assume the role of ace pilot Bowie Stray, the leader of the Blue Bombers, an elite squad attempting to take down the evil Baron through rapid-fire arcade combat, dynamic environments, and witty chatter.
Extended Gameplay: Arcade Action Meets Modern Visuals
The extended re-reveal gameplay trailer highlights the game’s slick visuals, intense dogfighting, rapid-fire weaponry, and spectacular boss encounters across an action-driven campaign.
While the mass appeal will be pure ’90s nostalgia, the graphics bring clean, colorful, and modern visual flair, successfully blending old-school appeal with contemporary techniques, offering a chaotic, memorable, and cheesy entry in the on-rails genre.
Coming to PC: Wishlist Before Launch
Wild Blue Skies is currently confirmed for PC via Steam, directly targeting the large base of arcade shooter fans on the platform. Although the game does not have an official release date, the re-reveal and extended gameplay trailer suggest it’s nearing launch.
Fans eager to fly alongside the Blue Bombers can wishlist the game on Steam to receive the latest updates on its release window when they become available.
Why Wild Blue Skies is the Star Fox Successor Fans Deserve
Prepare for a nostalgia overload when Wild Blue Skies launches on PC via Steam. Designed by Giles Goddard, a programmer who worked on Star Fox 94, the upcoming on-rails shooter blends classic adventure with modern controls and visuals, creating a standout title in the genre.
