Following disappointment and backlash from players, developer KT Racing has announced compensation to make up for the rough launch of Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown. Eligible players will receive in-game items with the launch of Season 2 in December.
Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown launched to a negative player reaction on September 12. Developer KT Racing has acknowledged that “technical and server difficulties” resulted in an unplayable game plagued with bugs, server disconnections, and poor game optimization.
The open-world racing game’s poor launch sees the game have a “Mostly Negative” review score on Steam and a Metacritic score of 52. KT Racing wants to address player “dissatisfaction” with a patch due on November 5 and compensate those who played the game during its rocky launch.

The launch of Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown saw server issues for many gamers. Lag and connection problems frustrated players, with many unable to log onto the servers at all. There were also complaints about how poorly the cars handled and the AI difficulty.
KT Racing worked on releasing quick fixes to the game, but many players remain unhappy with what they see as a botched launch. Many players are waiting for the upcoming patch to see how the developers address the ongoing concerns and issues.
In the latest developer update, KT Racing has revealed Patch 2 and compensation coming to players. On November 5, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown will get a patch focusing on optimizing game performance on all platforms, including network upgrades, over 40 bug fixes, improved game stability, and better peripheral compatibility.
Patch 2 features many improvements, such as AI difficulty and behavior tweaks for improved accessibility, a reworked ranked matchmaking experience, and a more realistic car performance. Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown’s Patch 2 is part of an ongoing attempt by KT Racing to make the game a “more enjoyable gaming experience for everyone.”
As for compensation, KT Racing is giving anyone who played the game before October 12 an exclusive “Adventurer’ off-road edition of the 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe.” All eligible players will also receive a pack of 5 Pioneers of the Solar Crown premium stickers. Players will get the in-game items at an unknown date in December when Season 2 launches.

Players hope for a more stable and enjoyable Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown with upcoming patches. Currently, the game is peaking at around 300 players daily on Steam, a 68% drop from last month. Patch 2 and Season 2 could be the turning point for this troubled game.
