Rainbow Six Extraction – Developers Stress the Importance of Teamwork

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction, the upcoming tactical shooter from Ubisoft Montreal, is launching later this year. Recently, the developers have stressed how important it is to work together and approach situations tactically.

WHAT IS RAINBOW SIX EXTRACTION?

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Extraction is a tactical shooter set within the Rainbow Six universe.

The game focuses on co-op gameplay, with teams of three players entering a quarantine zone to gain intelligence on an unknown alien threat.

Players take control of operators taken directly from Rainbow Six: Siege, each coming with their unique abilities, gadgets, and playstyles.

It’s a game of high risk, high reward, with the further into the hazardous containment zone the team gets, the greater the rewards.

If a team member falls during the mission, the other players can choose to rescue them or head to the extraction point.

TEAMWORK AND TACTICS

During the GameSpot Play For All 2021 Showcase, Rainbow Six Extraction creative director Patrik Méthé revealed some of the details we can expect from the game.

Although Extraction takes a lot of the gameplay mechanics, operators, and ideas that make Siege so successful, he says that the two games are very different.

Méthé stresses that Extraction is not a simple run and gun game. Instead, players will need to proceed through the randomly generated maps, as one mistake from any of the operators will have consequences for the rest of the team.

Everything you do in Extraction is part of a squad, and failing or abandoning a match will result in a forfeit for all progression for that match and your operator becoming MIA.

When an operator is MIA, either through failing or abandoning, that operator is unplayable until you and your friends head back and rescue them.

In Rainbow Six Extraction, everything you do and every decision you make will affect the rest of the team. You live or die together.
