Primal Planet (PP) is the retropixel metroidvania from Seethingswarm and published by Pretty Soon. A project by solo Finnish dev Albert van Zyl, first revealed on 22 July 2022. It offers a metroidvania-style adventure set in prehistoric times. Where we’ll follow a family of cavemen in this hostile world.

Trying to survive but also uncovering the mysterious presence of aliens with a threat to the entire planet. The game is deeply inspired by classics as well as the most acclaimed modern metroidvanias. Primal Planet – Release Date and Time

After a development of over 3 years, today marks the official launch of Primal Planet. A great first debut for the solo dev from Seethingswarm. Bringing us a metroidvania-style adventure set during the prehistoric period. Debuting just today on PC, specifically on:

Primal Planet: Gameplay and Key Features

The debut title from Seethingswarm presents itself as a very interesting experience. Bringing a true prehistoric-themed metroidvania. In which we’ll be able to craft weapons as well as recruit various companions and unlikely allies. Thus offering:

• Explore the Prehistoric World: A world full of life with various biomes. Including dense forests, menacing mountains, and mysterious oceans full of secrets and dangers. Inhabited by a wide variety of dinosaurs, including the iconic and dangerous T-Rex.

• Discover the Mystery: Following the story of a family of cavemen. Who have been separated, we’ll follow the father in search of his wife and daughter. Meeting various characters and allies along the journey and discovering an alien threat.

• Adapt and Survive: With an EXP and crafting system to unlock new abilities and create weapons and potions. Also using tactics and strategy to overcome more technologically advanced enemies or fiercer predators.

All accompanied by a pleasant retro-pixel style with fluid animations. As well as the option to play in co-op with a friend. In the role of the adorable yet fearsome Sino, the sinosauropteryx. The game launches today on PC, but it’s confirmed to arrive on Playstation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch in 2025.
