Pokemon Pokopia players have plenty to look forward to in the coming months. Nintendo has announced that a major free update is arriving this August, plus a three-part Expansion Pass, also starting the same month, which will introduce new locations, Pokemon, customization options, and more content stretching all the way into 2027.
Pokemon Pokopia’s Free Version 2.0 Update Arrives This August
Nintendo Direct June 2026 went above and beyond in giving Nintendo fans plenty to be excited for after watching PlayStation and Xbox take center stage over the previous week. The showcase delivered major reveals including Kingdom Hearts 4 and the long-rumored Ocarina of Time remake. But one of Switch 2’s most famous exclusives, Pokemon Pokopia, was not about to let the festivities end without making its own bid for attention.
The cozy life sim only recently received its Version 1.1.0 update, yet Nintendo is already preparing fans for the launch of Version 2.0 in August. The upcoming update will be free for all players and introduces Dive, a brand-new move that opens up underwater exploration. Using Dive, Ditto will be able to venture aquatic environments that were previously inaccessible. Players will also be able to build homes for Water-type Pokemon.
Expansion Pass Adds New Towns, Pokemon, and More
Launching alongside the free Version 2.0 update in August is the first DLC included in the Pokemon Pokopia Expansion Pass. The debut expansion introduces Bubble Basin, a new underwater town that offers fresh activities, new Pokemon species, ocean-themed furniture, and additional outfit options for Ditto. Naturally, it’s tied-in with the Dive feature. Note that if players want to start their journey to Bubble Basin, they must complete the “Raise the environment” request in Bleak Beach.
The second DLC included in the Expansion Pass remains mostly under wraps for now. Nintendo only teased it with a brief mention of “additional new features,” with the content currently scheduled to arrive later in 2026.
As for the third and final DLC, players will have to wait a little longer. Nintendo revealed that it will introduce another entirely new town and is currently planned for release sometime in 2027.
All three DLC packs are included exclusively through the Expansion Pass, which is already available for preorder on the Nintendo eShop. Nintendo is also offering a couple of bonuses for players who decide to pick it up.
Those who purchase the Expansion Pass by August 31, 2027 and redeem it by September 30, 2027 will receive a code for 30 rare Pokémetal Ingots. Then with no time limit, every Expansion Pass owner can claim a special recipe for Ditto Print Blocks and Wallpaper.
To top off all of this news, the trailer shown during the Direct concluded with a short clip featuring the Mythical Pokemon Manaphy. It’s a surprise appearance that is sure to leave fans excited for what the future holds.
