Endless Legend 2 (EL2) is the highly anticipated sequel to the 4X strategy series from Amplitude Studio. This new chapter comes over 10 years after the first title, debuting on 22 September 2025. It’s landing with huge excitement from fans, especially after some disappointment with Civilization VII.

Release Date & Platforms
Endless Legend 2 was originally announced for a 7 August 2025 launch, but the Amplitude Studio team confirmed a slight delay. They moved the date to improve the game experience, officially debuting on 22 September 2025 in Early Access on Steam.

Setting – A New Planet with Changing Maps
The new chapter moves away from the world of Auriga, taking us for the first time to the Oceanic world of Saiadha. This further expands the Endless universe and incorporates the planet’s biggest feature right into the game. That is, the Tidefall phenomenon, dynamic events where powerful waves will dramatically change the game map in real-time.
Combined with procedural generation for each map, it gives a uniquely strong feel to every match. The Tidefall also brings a feature that requires careful planning and territory control to prepare for the waves. You can even use it to put pressure on your opponents whenever possible.
Factions – Asymmetrical and Unique
But of course, along with the planet of Saiadha, the real stars of EL2 are definitely the factions. Taking an asymmetrical approach to the 5 launch factions, each offers a unique gameplay and style. The 5 factions are:
- Kin of Sheredyn: Descendants of an Interstellar Empire expedition searching for a new Colony, but they soon find themselves on an inhospitable planet.
- Aspects: Born from the symbiosis between Machines and Organisms and guided by the Chorus as a single individual, bringing balance through coral spores.
- Necrophage: Semi-insectoid creatures guided by Instinct. Awakened from a long hibernation underground, they are now looking to satisfy their hunger.
- Last Lords: A lineage of noble and honorable warriors who escaped the curse that struck their home planet of Orga. Their goal is to either cure the curse or embrace the vampiric nature that afflicts them.
- Tahuks: The devoted followers of the Endless, who watch the stars waiting for its return. The world of Saiadha will test their Council, and the union between Faith and Technology.
Over the last few months, the team has been doing deep dives on each of the 5 factions available at launch. Offering the Tahuks as the fifth playable faction available with Early Access. And just a reminder, many more will be coming.
Gameplay Innovations
Endless Legend 2 improves upon the beloved game formula of the first chapter. It brings a 4X tactical strategy approach with Hex Grids. The gameplay is as much strategic as it is diplomatic. It offers Negotiation, Assimilation, and Conquest of various minor groups. And a dynamic playing field with various types of environments and different terrain.
This is accompanied by the Tidefall system, with the enormous waves affecting Saiadha able to dynamically change the biomes. This offers huge replayability thanks to the variations in maps, terrains, and asymmetrical factions.
