E3 2022 Canceled for Third Successive Year

E3 2022 will not feature a physical event, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) has confirmed, due to the ongoing health risks and impact of COVID-19.

HAS E3 2022 BEEN CANCELED?

The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) is the world’s leading video game trade event that presents developers and publishers with a chance to promote their upcoming games.

E3 began in May 1995 and has been an enormous success and is considered the highlight of the gaming industry’s calendar year.

Unfortunately, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, E3 2020 and E3 2021 were canceled, with E3 2021 being an online-only event.

There were hopes that E3 2022 would go ahead. But, unfortunately, that is not the case.

The ESA has confirmed via IGN that, “Due to the ongoing health risks surrounding COVID-19 and its potential impact on the safety of exhibitors and attendees, E3 will not be held in person in 2022.”

There have been no further announcements or details, but the hope is that this year’s E3 event will once again be held virtually.

If E3 2022 takes place online, we expect it to be held in June and would likely see details of the upcoming event in the next month or so, with Bethesda, Microsoft, PlayStation, and Nintendo all expected to take part.

Some of the games releasing towards the end of this year that we could perhaps see at E3 2022 include Starfield, Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, Saints Row, Vampire: The Masquerade – Swansong, and A Plague Tale: Requiem.
