Age of Empires 4 is set to launch on October 28, 2021. On this day, you’ll finally get to play this much-awaited real-time strategy game from Relic Entertainment and Xbox Game Studios. At launch, the game will have eight civilizations, but Relic plans to expand it in the future.
Chinese
The Chinese civilization features a dynasty system that gives players an advantage, including unique benefits and different strategies they can use against their opponents. This civilization features engineering as its strongest point, just like how the Chinese dominated this field for centuries in the real world.
Its gunpowder units also makes this civilization stand out, and a formidable opponent in battle.
Delhi Sultanate
The Delhi Sultanate is a civilization that becomes stronger over time. They are the strongest when it comes to research and defense. Among other civilizations, the Delhi Sultanate is the most technically advanced. They have zero cost on resources when researching technology, and Scholars help speed up the process.
When it comes to battle, its War Elephant dominates the battlefield with its strength. They also use defensive structures to their advantage until such time their military reaches full heights, making them a force to be reckoned with later in the game.
English
The English have powerful defenses reinforced by their archery units, with special mention to the Longbowman. They have a network of castles (Town Centers, Outposts, Towers, and Keeps) that trigger an alarm when enemies approach. They reign supreme in any match as their Keep produces all units.
Their food economy sustains them through the Ages, and this is thanks to cheaper farms. This then allows them to expand upgrades and armies.
Mongols
If there’s one civilization you should fear in battle, it’s the Mongols. This civilization aggressively produces military units, so when facing against them, it’s best to work on your defenses early on. They are a nomadic civilization, so they can move their bases.
Their economy is built through unique buildings. They use resources to pursue world domination by building a strong army even in small numbers.
French
The French are known for their cavalry. Their strength lies in their army of knights, gunpowder siege weapons, and advantages in trade. French Traders are able to bring back any resources they need; an advantage when there’s a shortage. Their economy is also strong, all thanks to its Town Center which produces units quicker with each Age.
Its cavalry can break enemy lines and bring bonus damage. Its units also have access to upgrades from special bonuses for health to defense.
Abbasid Dynasty
The Abbasid Dynasty’s House of Wisdom is the center of this civilization. This provides upgrade opportunities, and as buildings are built around it, their Golden Age rate increases which in turn brings increases to gather, research, and production rates. Its growth is uninterrupted due to its unique ability to construct Landmarks and advance through the ages without the need to assign active villagers.
This civilization also has Camel Archers and Camel Riders which are unique to them.
Holy Roman Empire
The Holy Roman Empire’s infantry is its strength. You would have to think twice before facing them in battle because they recover quickly from attacks, and its Landsknechte can deal huge damage with its devastating area-of-effect capability. Their structures are highly durable and difficult to destroy due to enhancements from upgrades, making them hard to defeat.
Its unique religious unit, the Prelate, increases its villagers’ gather rate which helps them ramp up their economy quickly.
The Rus are adept in the wild, and are highly-skilled hunters. They get huge benefits from their environment, especially when it comes to gathering resources to quickly build a strong economy. Their Hunting Cabin acts as a standard mill, and at the same time they get steady Gold incomes from it.
Its defenses are the most powerful early on in the game. They are mostly known for their mounted Warrior Monk that buffs surrounding units, as well as its powerful gunpowder unit called the Streltsy.
Age of Empires 4 will be available for PC via Steam and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
