Four days after its official release, Larian Studios reports that Divinity Original Sin 2 sells almost 500,000! The report came from Swen Vincke, owner of Larian Studios.

This figure includes sales from the game’s Early Access period from the past year. This brings in roughly 180,000 copies sold since 14 September.

“It is fantastic, but it is also way beyond what we expected. We’re close to hitting 500K units sold which is a number I believe took us two or three months with Divinity: Original Sin 1,” Vincke said.

This may be good news for the development team, but higher sales means higher player volume. This also means there will be server issues, as the huge turnout of players is unexpected.

Vincke said that they will have servers “up and running again soon… Lots of players means lots of support issues coming in and we’re trying to service them as fast as we can. After that, it’ll be a long well-deserved break for the team and then we’ll boot up our machines again to work on the next things.”
