Diablo Immortal launched as a free-to-play game, and unfortunately, Blizzard packed it with so many in-app purchases that it supposedly takes up to $100,000 to max one character.

After announcing Diablo 4 during Microsoft & Bethesda Games Showcase 2022, Blizzard has had to ease fears of the game possibly being pay-to-win.

On Twitter, Blizzard general manager Rod Fergusson reassured fans that Diablo 4 will be a completely different experience to Diablo Immortal.

In a Tweet, Fergusson said, “To be clear, D$ is a full-price game built for PC/PS/Xbox audiences. We are committed to delivering an incredible breadth of content after launch.”

He says in-game purchases will be anchored around “optional cosmetic items and full story-driven expansions.”

Fergusson also added that Diablo 4 would feature crossplay and cross-progression and hinted that it will have local co-op.

So, it looks like we can expect microtransactions in Diablo 4; however, they will be optional for cosmetic items and will not impact level, progression, or stats.
