Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile Shut Down by Activision

Activision has officially shut down Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile a year after its release, after the game failed to meet expectations. The game is no longer downloadable, and social features no longer work as Activision streamlines the game and ends support.

Call of Duty Warzone Mobile Shut Down by Activision

Launched in March 2024, Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile aimed to deliver the full battle royale experience on handheld devices, but after a little over a year, Activision has pulled the plug after it failed to meet the company’s expectations.

In an official statement, Activision thanked fans for their “dedication and passion” for Warzone Mobile, before saying the decision was made because the game was not resonating with mobile players like it did with console and PC players.

Why Was Warzone Mobile Shut Down?

In its statement shared on X, Activision explained: “The decision was made after careful consideration of various factors and while we’re proud of the accomplishment in bringing Call of Duty: Warzone to mobile in an authentic way, it unfortunately has not met our expectations with mobile-first players like it has with PC and console audiences.”

Ultimately, Warzone Mobile was not making Activision enough money compared to Call of Duty: Mobile. According to Statista, Warzone Mobile recently dropped from making $4 million monthly to less than half a million per month. Call of Duty: Mobile still pulls in over $20 million a month.

What This Means for Mobile Players

As of May 18, Call of Duty: Mobile has been removed from Apple and Google Play app stores, and all social features have been “retired.” The game remains playable for those who have it already downloaded but it has been “streamlined” and will not receive any further updates.

Servers remain online, but Activision has not said how long they will remain active. Players can still use any unspent COD Points within the game, but will no longer be able to purchase COD Points or battle passes using real money.

What’s Next for Call of Duty on Mobile?

Activision has discontinued support for Warzone Mobile, but Call of Duty: Mobile is still flourishing, boasting over 1 billion downloads across mobile platforms. Call of Duty: Mobile is free to try, where Activision is running “special incentives” for Warzone Mobile players.

For now, the Warzone Mobile servers remain online for those who downloaded it before May 19, but those too will likely shut down soon.

Conclusion

Activision has ended support for Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, and the game is no longer available to download from app stores. However, Call of Duty: Mobile is still going strong with in-game incentives for previous Warzone Mobile players. Are you disappointed with the news? Share your thoughts in the comments.
