Warrior Kings is a strategy game developed by Black Cactus and published by Microids. The game is set in a medieval fantasy world and focuses on pagan tribalism, renaissance enlightenment and imperialist theocracy. Your goal as the player is to restore the power of the kingdom to its former glory using your military powers and your will to win.

The game tells the story of Artos, son of Baron Amalric. It is set in Cravant, a small fiefdom within the Holy Empire, considered as the most dominant power in the world of Orbis. The Holy Empire is led by 2 leaders: spiritual leader, the Patriarch, and military leader, the Holy Protector.

A new cruel and corrupt Patriarch, named Icthyus Granitas, began accusing everyone against his regime with treason and heresy, and Cravant fell in the same situation. Due to this, Artos’ father was killed by invaders from the Empire, but Artos luckily survived and fled with a small band of loyal soldiers to Angland. There, he plots his revenge against the Patriarch and the Holy Empire.

As Artos, you can choose three different paths in the game. You can either choose the Pagan path (witchcraft, superstition, nature worship, etc.), Imperial path (involves expensive, well-armored troops), or the Renaissance path (humanity). Each of these paths has its own unique set of values, style of war, and storyline.
