The Bard’s Tale is an action adventure role playing game developed by inXile Entertainment and published by Vivendi Universal Games.

The game is about a sarcastic and opportunistic adventurer and musician who is driven by carnal rather than noble pursuits. The main character was never given a name, or addressed by anything other than “The Bard”. What motivates him are only simple things like money and cleavage. He is not interested in saving the world and his quest is narrated by a biased man who cannot stand him.

The game character “The Bard” was recruited by mercenaries to help save the princess named Caleigh. As he goes through his journey, he finds himself being attacked by an unknown Druid-like cult that was sent by a being called Fionnaoch to kill him. The Bard will have to overcome all the terrifying challenges including three monstrous guardians, break-dancing corpses, melodious goblins, a giant and a fire breathing bat.

Eventually, as you progress in the game, it is revealed that The Bard is the “Chosen One”. Caleigh will also reveal her true identity to actually be a demon, tempting people to come and set her free. If the Chosen One, The Bard, comes and saves her, she will give The Bard all that his heart desires while destroying the world. However, if The Bard slays Caleigh, The Bard will return to the path in search for the next bar maid to hit on. Now it’s up to you which path to take.
